The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
